Disclaimer: I do not typically review products in this space but when I heard about this service I jumped on board quickly, anxious to give it a try. Men, you may want to sit this one out if you are sensitive to reading about women’s cycles.
A few weeks ago I read about a company that will deliver feminine products right to your door. I am the first to admit how lazy and unprepared I am most months when my period looms. My sweet husband is more often than not the one who has to make a last minute run to the store for me. The Period Store has developed something marketed to women just like me and I was more than willing to test it out.
To sign up all you need to do is fill out some basic information about your cycle. This helps them predict when to send your box each month. (Cheers for automation!) You can choose from a multitude of products and how many you would like each month. They have everything from big brand names to natural organic products. Or if you would rather skip the product, you can go straight to the fun goodies instead. You can change it up month to month even, if you are feeling brave.
The absolute icing on the cake for me was reading about the extra goodies that come inside each monthly box. I was super excited to see I could request gluten free and dairy free for my monthly chocolate. Yes, chocolate! I was even happier to see when it arrived it was fair trade chocolate. If that wasn’t enough you also get tea, some basic ibuprofen and a beautiful art print every single month.
As the years have progressed I am trying to come to a peaceful understanding with my monthly cycle. It is part of being a woman, in fact. It may not always be the most pleasant but having something to look forward to, like a special parcel delivery, sure does help make it feel like something more. I am already thinking of ways to prepare my own daughter when her time comes. I want her first steps into womanhood to be full of solid information to be used as a tool and a celebration of her body. I think The Period Store is on to something here that is far more than a convenience, they are offering a way for women to celebrate who they are.
The packaging is kitty approved too!
